Vikings Head RSR Lakes Rally

An original 1927 16/50 5 seat Tourer, this car spent most of it's working life near the Border town of Berwick-on-Tweed. It was brought South by Mike Evans in the early 1980s and stored until bought recently by Chris Clayton. Chris is doing a marvellous job of restoration, having stripped the car to it's bare bones and is now getting things back together in Sowerby Bridge near Leeds.

Mike Evans had a second engine, the only known Sports engine to survive, which has three inlet ports; this engine has been restored and is presently in the car. In Sports guise the engine would have been fitted with twin carburettors on the outer ports, the middle port would be covered with a blanking plate. In 'normal' trim a single carb is fitted in the middle port with the outer ports blanked off.

The photographs taken before and during restoration hardly do justice to the car, blame the photographer, but they do show what a task Chris has taken on. He can be justly proud of his achievements. I look forward to seeing the car on the road before too much longer.

The chassis number is 1013.
