| 35th RSR & RP4DG Lakes Rally
September 17th to 19th 2010
The Burnside
Hotel at Bowness-on-Windermere will again be our base. For more
details and bookings telephone 015394-42211. We are being offered
the slightly reduced rate of £150 per person based on two nights
or £187 per person for three nights Dinner B & B. We will have our
own parking area, full use of the leisure club (including swimming
pool) and other facilities. There are two rooms specially fitted
out for disabled visitors. They also accept dogs in most rooms and
have some rooms where dogs are not allowed, for those with an aversion
or an allergy. There are a few family and single rooms. Of the over
50 rooms, 20 have been provisionally reserved for our use. For those
wishing to stay elsewhere but still join us for the Saturday evening
meal it will be £30 per head for a 4-course meal plus coffee. Please
make bookings directly with the hotel and mention that you are with
the Rover Sports Register rally to get the discounted rates.
On Saturday there will be a visit to the Lakeside
and Haverthwaite Railway at the southern end of Windermere where
trips can be taken on the trains and combined with a cruise on
the Windermere
Lake Cruises steamers. So many ticket combinations are available
that I will leave it to you to decide on the day. There is a requested
parking donation of £1.50, pay on arrival, and an attendant who
will keep an eye on the cars for us. As an alternative to the railway
and cruise on the lake, we will have a tour of some of the Lake
District lanes, this will include a pass or two (but no treasure
hunt this year!), with a stop somewhere for lunch.
Saturday evening's meal at the Burnside will
be followed by the (usually) fiercely contested quiz.
On Sunday we will return to Holker
Hall, near Grange-over-Sands, the home of Lord & Lady Cavendish,
where we will have the final gathering of the cars and the judging.
Entrants will be sent a voucher for entry to the house and gardens
at group discount rates, pay on arrival. There is no charge for
use of the car park.
The Lakeland
Motor Museum is no longer at Holker Hall; once it has opened
at its new home I will investigate this as a venue for another year.
Prices for Holker Hall (pay on the day)
All In (Hall, Gardens & Park) Adult £6.70, Senior
Citizen £6.25, Child Nil
Gardens & Park only Adult £4.70, Senior Citizen

Entry fee for the weekend remains at £5 per vehicle,
to include Rally Plaque and administration. Please print off and
send in an entry form, even if
you book a room directly with the hotel. All other charges should
be settled on an individual basis with the establishments concerned.
Closing date for entries this year will be the 13th September; entries
arriving after this date will not receive passes for Holker Hall
nor appear on the entrants' list.
